"Based on a foundation of our culture and traditions, and respect for individual choices and responsibilities, the mission of the 'Namgis Treatment Centre is to facilitate the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well being of our community."

The Kwakwala speaking man has always been aware of his PHYSICAL, MENTAL, SPIRITUAL and EMOTIONAL existence. He built a very complex SOCIAL STRUCTURE. He personified attributes like HONOR and RESPECT. SYMBOLS were very important. The PHYSICAL symbol of the SISIUTL is POWER, STRENGTH and PROTECTION. SPIRITUALLY, it personifies the greatest DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLE of all - THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE. We have it within us to love, to hate, to build or to destroy……
